Photo a day - April

April has been about enjoying our terrace and sunshine, and week-end trips to explore new places. We made a trip along the coast to visit Aspra, St Elia and some beaches along the way and ended up in Capo Zafferano and its old lighthouse, with picnic and dipping our feet into the nice and fresh sea. It's a great place to visit, just a short walk too, with option to stop on the beach - lido del Carabiniere, which we did. I don't have any lighthouse photos to show, due to damaged fence we had to keep extra close eye on Mara. The lighthouse is no longer operational, but all the buildings are there and in quite decent state, except missing windows and doors - it has an interesting vibe. It has great views too, all blue of sky and sea. I loved it, and it would make a great photo shoot location for a family with older kids! Another one to visit thermal springs, where we found a field of wildflowers. Of that I do have a photo, with Mara sceptically inspecting a bloom. She usually tears them apart, many plants on our terrace would agree, if they could speak.

Easter we spent with family, kids decorated egg-shaped rocks trying to make Ukrainian pysanka. It's quite a job, the patterns can be very intricate, so we had to find a middle ground between what's traditional and what we can do.

What else happened this month? I managed to finish a sweater for Mara, despite her attempts to tangle yarn. Good thing evenings are still fresh and it's useful, and I hope my calculations were correct and it won't be too small for autumn. I'm in the mood to start something with lacy pattern now, a bit more like warmer weather style, even though I love knitting cables.

We also did some baking with kids, traditional muffins and also some chocolate chip cookies. Good chunk of the dough was eaten before it even made it to baking, and I suspect kids were making trips to the fridge while the dough was chilling - but we got some cookies out of it too, so I cannot complain too much!

Apart of it, things were flowing as usual - work, school, sports after school, dinner, bed, rewind. It's good to have routine, but at times it felt like it's going too fast - blink and it's the week-end again. Days are getting longer, so it feels like you can and expect yourself do more - but the day still has only 24 hours. At times I catch myself thinking about holidays when things will slow down, only to realize that kids will be home too, so it will all be a very different kind of busy then!
