Photo a day - September

  Published on 24th of October 2023 These past weeks I've been reflecting a lot about my photo a day project, that I am doing for almost 3 years already, I started a few months before Mara was born. There are days when it feels too much and I have no inspiration and energy to pick up the camera. And then there are moments when I see my kids playing, a new trick or game or mess they are up to, a spot with beautiful light, an interesting combination of colours, and I want to take a photo. I've decided to go easy with this, with myself in the first place, because there's no creativity when you are exhausted and feel forced, and the photos show it. But I try to make time and space for this creativity, it's something my soul craves. And when I look back, all the things I've discovered and mastered, tried and experimented with, all the energy and ideas and feedback, it's amazing. When autumn rains leaves and sunshine

October is full of these gorgeous days, when the sky is clear blue and the world is full of autumn wonder. On such a day, being in the forest is like being showered in leaves and sunshine. Enjoy it while it's here, it rarely goes long without raining in Scotland :-)

The sun sits low on the sky, creating gorgeous long shadows. Which I like. A lot. So here we are on a warm October evening. Playing rock-paper-scissors, carrying around first golden leaves, stumbling but still running in the sun patches, and having some serious sister-brother conversations.

Fife Coastal Path

Our first walk of the year. Stomping through the mud, and lots of it. Some of us did even manage a bit of mud sliding. The sea had this surreal turquoise color, along with grey moody sky it was beautiful. Lots of dry grass, sticks and bushes, thorns. We did not go down to the beaches, it was too muddy and slippery for it. Next time.

Clothes, colours, choices / Family photographer in St Andrews

Clothes are.. .well, clothes. They are a daily necessity, they reflect our personality. And clothes are crucial for the photos to turn out great - imagine the two children above wearing say stripy leggins and pink Peppa Pig dress and orange skirt with pink polka dot shorts. Won't be exactly the same, right? I've put together some tips and ideas here to make it easier for you to decide on your wardrobe for the photo session. Choose colours that you like looking at, because they will remain on the photos for a long time. Pick up to 4 main colours which coordinate. Everybody should not wear same colours, but the colours should look good together. Colours should not be bright - it is distracting in the photos, we want the focus to be you and your beautiful smiles! Try to pick clothes which are smart and look classic, again because the photos will make a memory for a long time. Avoid too many patterns, big patterns, characters and printed logos on t-shi...

It begins to look a lot like Christmas!

We have our big tree up, a small tree that Mara keeps carrying back and forth, a cactus, and an advent calendar.  What does a cactus have to do with Christmas? Once upon a time we had a big cactus. At Christmas time, Matteo has decided that the cactus also deserves some Christmas cheer and decorated it with some small toys. Since then there always was a Christmas cactus in Pagano family. Then it was time to move, the cactus found a new home. And in our new home in Palermo, Pagano family has got a new cactus. It was small, but it was loved well and grew big during the summer, and got its own share of Christmas cheer! This post is going to be quite different from the rest. I wanted to have something festive also on my blog, but I've just started taking photos, so not much to post yet. I've decided that this post will grow and I'll be adding things and little stories as I am adding new photos, and I will wrap up by Christmas. ...

Photo a day - May and June

Published on 25th of June 2022     Here's the next portion of photos from my personal 'a photo a day' project. I'm still photographing at home a lot, especially now as the days get hotter. Then there is the sea, and there will be a lot of it in the coming weeks. And our terrace garden. We started it in April and March, when we planted some tomato and basil seeds. Then we planted some more tomatoes and also peppers. We got mint, and geraniums, and a lemon tree, and an olive tree, and a whole collection of cacti and succulents. Our terrace is east-facing, so we get lots and lots of sun - we'll see how it all will fare in the coming hot months. I guess cacti and succulents should at least do well - I hope so! Like what I do?
