Photo albums

photo album by photographer Julia Pagano

These beauties have arrived with the post today.  Putting last finishing touches - wrapping them and decorating with cuttings from my garden to give to  my lovely clients. Today's decorations are mint, rosemary, ivy and pink armeria.

custom photo album

Such album takes work and time to create, it is custom made and designed specifically with your photos and ideas. It's the most popular product with my clients, often ordered in more than one copy as gift for grandparents or other family members. Beautiful way to enjoy all photos from your photo-session (and sometimes more than one!) in printed and physical form. The album comes also as pdf version, which can be used as e-book on your tablet. Can be a handy if you wish to protect the original from little often dirty fingers, or creative minds armed with crayons :-).

What inspires me

Immagine
Today's post is slightly different. Today it is not about my photos - it is about other photographers who inspire me and whose work I love so much. It's so many things that I love about their photos - candid approach, finding beautiful moments in everyday routine, beautiful details, their work with colours and editing, the way they capture emotions and little expressions that tell so much about the character of their kids. Here are some of my favourites, and links to their Instagram accounts for more inspiration.   Laura Elizabeth Wood   Megan Loeks Megann Robinson

All the sweet things...

Immagine
that happen in the kitchen. Cookies, cakes, fingers in the batter and chocolate. Everything gets tasted, and eventually eaten. Sometimes it includes the poor plate, or a bowl, or a random piece of table. Especially if you are the one stuck with baby biscuits and porridge, and no cake.   Ok, here comes the cake. It was mentioned here some days ago. And the cake maker. The cake maker was very good and patient with changing light and camera settings. The cake, chocolaty and fruity with nice sour note of raspberries, softness of ricotta and creamy chocolate ganache. And it is all gone :-) P.S. All the sweets mentioned in this post, have been successfully eaten. The bowl and the table are still there.

3 reasons to have your family photos in Villa Giulia park

Immagine
Villa Giulia is a park in historic center of Palermo. It has its origins in 18th century and is remarkable for its perfect square shape with diagonal alleys dividing the park in different sections. Marble statues and fountains, a sundial, shady alleys and open spaces, and wide variety of trees and shrubbery make it a popular spot both with locals and tourists.  If you'd like your family photos to have lush green background with a touch of special Sicilian atmosphere, this park definitely should be considered. It ticks all the boxes - plenty of space, nice surroundings, easy access, lots of options for things to do during your photo shoot to get natural and emotional images (anyway we don't do posed photos on the benches or next to flowering shrubs!).  Here are my top 3 reasons why villa Giulia is a great location for family photo sessions. Reason 1  Lots of space and diversity. The park has an alley with Ficus trees, a little bamboo forest, a hill with cacti and succulen...

The magic of reading during your family photo shoot

Immagine
5 reasons to include books and reading in your family photos If you are reading this, you are probably considering a family photo shoot. I know all the different concerns that my clients have before their session. And one of them is - what do we do, how do we get those images with genuine moments and real emotions? During my 7 years doing family photography I've discovered one activity that always works - it's reading books with your kids. There are so many good reasons why integrating books and reading into your lifestyle family photoshoot can bring a touch of magic, warmth, and togetherness, while capturing beautiful and candid moments along the way. Below I'll let you know the top 5.  Let's get started! 1. Reading with your kids is great for those who might feel uncomfortable in front of the camera Because you do what you usually do - you sit down, take a book and read. You don't need to worry what to do with your hands - they are holding a book, or both the boo...

Tentsmuir forest

Immagine
We do not roam the woods oft enough. We like beaches, true - all year around. We live 10 min walk away from one. Still it's not an excuse enough to ignore the woods, something to work on. We finally made it to Tentsmuir on a crisp October day. We roamed the dunes, ended up on the beach (again :-), and made our way back to the trees. It was full of autumn smells, yellow leaves, mushrooms, golden trees and the quiet.   It was full of tree climbing, treasure hunting, stick collecting and stick walking, mushroom watching, path running, log walking and all the fun.  To be continued - for I made too many nice photos to squeeze in one post :-)

The force is strong with this one

Immagine
This project has been brewing since a while. We even wanted to write down the ideas, cause Matteo had more of them than fingers on one hand :-) Finally the combination of sunset, being at the right location at the right time, plus the mood was all in place. So yeah, the force is strong with this one. We were rewarded with golden light and pretty sky. The playground nearby destroyed our plans for more silhouette photos. So more might come, if Matteo wants to implement his ideas. For now, this is what we have, plus lots of pretty sky, and sea, and golden cowlick :-)

Giveaway! Win maternity photo session - or £100 gift voucher for your newborn photos!

Immagine
A new beginning, not quite there yet but you can feel it. How he or she kicks or hickups, how your body changes because of the little miracle it's working on. All the tiny clothes you bought and folded with so much love. All the grainy ultrasound images which you see more with your heart than with your eyes. Pregnancy is a short period in life of a woman, and the weeks when you proudly show your bump are even shorter. And so special. And then the little miracle you made comes to this world, to your arms, and you are absorbed by the haze and beauty of first days with your new little most favourite human. Photograph is one of the few things that can capture these fleeting moments and bring them back to life, to remind you how messy and perfect it all was and how tiny they felt in your arms. That's what my maternity and newborn photo sessions are about. And you can win one! What's included: - 40 min maternity photo session in an outdoor location in St Andrews, to ta...
