Pigtails

It is official. We've grown enough hair to do pigtails! Hence an official-first-time-ever-pigtails portrait. Taken on January 28th.

 Of course we robbed the box with the hair accessories of Masha :-) She knows.

Now we should do sister-pigtail-partner-look. Probably. Or maybe not :-)

Last days of autumn

I know, it is Xmas time, so autumn photos are somewhat out of date. But I have some nice ones to share, and I had creative break to experiment with my photo editing, and work on some other photography projects. So I am sharing them now :). I had some ideas, the individuals involved had others. Sometimes I get carried away with my own ideas, which they did not want to do. I still need to remind myself to let go and let it be. I get nice stuff this way too, not what I wanted, but full of real emotions and laughter. These were made on one of the last warm autumn days, when rolling on the grass was still OK and leaves were down, but nice and dry and crunchy. Not dripping wet as we were hit by a rain season. So rolling in the leaves and grass we did. We have started in the park, where all the shouting, grass rolling, leaves throwing and laughing took place. Littlest people and lots of love/ newborn and baby photographer St Andrews

Some of my most favourite things to photograph. Tiny fingers and toes, big yawns, how they fit snugly in your arms. How they stretch and curl naturally when they sleep. Those kicking feet. How tiny they look on your bed, and how solid and warm they feel in your arms. Photo a day - September and October

Published on 17th of October 2022     This one is a bit strange mix of photos. As I opted to make separate posts about the sea and our travels in Scotland, this is what remained, mostly from home, a lot about food - water melon, plums, grapes, apples, figs, pears, yoghurt, pasta. Ice-cream is missing, I should work on that. I have quite a collection of her eating, probably deserves a separate post at this point. Mara is all about food, tasting new things, asking to share, trying to eat on her own. Fork is easy for her, spoon less so, and depending on food. Both easily result in lots of mess - part of the story though. These past weeks have been slow - settling into the new routine of back to school and weekends after long summer break is always a challenge. Waiting for the change of season, for autumn that forgot it's already October and we are still in t-shirts and flipflops here with occasional dip in the sea. Xmas art

I was not planning to decorate this year for Xmas. We are going away, as we always do. But some people had other plans. So we did decorate, we also made some of the decorations ourselves. Some rocks from the beach, and paint - and voila, we have Xmas trees, snowflakes, Xmas comets, candy canes, gifts, and even Santa's been painted.  Some art pieces we could not keep. Like the one below. Pity.

Peter Pan, catch your shadow

The shadow we've got, in a girly way with a wee bit of pink :-) The sun, sitting low in Scottish sky, invites for all sorts of shadow plays. We already had this , and this a while back. And will have some more probably, with a new twist.

Beach fun / Family photographer in St-Andrews

Beach is fun all year around. And we had the cutest little explorer. We went to Maiden rock beach for this family session, just a short walk from East Sands. And we had lots of rocks to explore, shells to collect and sand to play, and driftwood tree to climb. This girl and her flyaway hair!  Here are some more of my favourites from this session. Photo a day - July

Published on 12th of August 2022     Some recent photos from my 'a photo a day' project. I've been struggling a bit these past weeks to keep going, it's been too hot. Apart of sea breaks, we are mostly staying home and surviving thanks to air conditioning. Some days I look at the camera and think, it's all has been done already, I photographed this spot X times and kids or Mara doing this or something very similar another XX times. Then I see kids doing something, and inspiration hits again. When I look at the images together, its a reward in itself.  So what we've been up to - we got some new plants for the terrace, everything's been growing and blooming, our tomato plants are doing good too. And cacti, these also do very well. We get a nice breeze on the terrace in the evenings, so everyone is coming out when the day cools off a bit. Dinners are happening outside on the terrace too. Mara is very eager to help watering, but she often ends up either spilling...
