Gentle touch of spring

Spring, it is in the air. In the color of the sky, in the lush greenness appearing everywhere.
You want to go outside more, and soak it all in.
We did it, and had some nice adventures. Like Maya always trying to keep up, or when a decision has been made to pose for a picture with all three of them. Masha and Matteo proposed it, and implemented nicely as you can see above.

This is Maya with her most versatile toy ever. She is collecting sticks by dozens now.
Matteo looks nice with all sorts of leaves and flowers. I do not even need to put them in his hair, he does all the decorating himself :-)

It begins to look a lot like Christmas!

We have our big tree up, a small tree that Mara keeps carrying back and forth, a cactus, and an advent calendar.  What does a cactus have to do with Christmas? Once upon a time we had a big cactus. At Christmas time, Matteo has decided that the cactus also deserves some Christmas cheer and decorated it with some small toys. Since then there always was a Christmas cactus in Pagano family. Then it was time to move, the cactus found a new home. And in our new home in Palermo, Pagano family has got a new cactus. It was small, but it was loved well and grew big during the summer, and got its own share of Christmas cheer! This post is going to be quite different from the rest. I wanted to have something festive also on my blog, but I've just started taking photos, so not much to post yet. I've decided that this post will grow and I'll be adding things and little stories as I am adding new photos, and I will wrap up by Christmas. ...

Photo a day - May and June

Published on 25th of June 2022     Here's the next portion of photos from my personal 'a photo a day' project. I'm still photographing at home a lot, especially now as the days get hotter. Then there is the sea, and there will be a lot of it in the coming weeks. And our terrace garden. We started it in April and March, when we planted some tomato and basil seeds. Then we planted some more tomatoes and also peppers. We got mint, and geraniums, and a lemon tree, and an olive tree, and a whole collection of cacti and succulents. Our terrace is east-facing, so we get lots and lots of sun - we'll see how it all will fare in the coming hot months. I guess cacti and succulents should at least do well - I hope so! Like what I do? Orange garden

 Orange garden and a baby who likes all things citrus. Peel included. Especially when you can pick your own fruit! There are other fun things to try. Like chomping on some sticks. Or own dirty fingers :-) What to say, it was fun. And she still does it, I mean tries to eat orange with the peel :-)

Windy sunny evening - maternity photo session in St Andrews

So many favourites from this photo session, I had hard time deciding what to include in this blog. It was too sunny, too windy, a bit chilly for Scottish May evening. Natalie was concerned about her hair that wanted to fly away all the time, I was concerned about too strong sunshine despite evening hours, comfortable natural poses for pregnancy photos and a ton of other things I usually think and worry about before I shoot. We met at their home and took some pictures there, chatted and did some silly things. Then we went for a walk and chatted some more, and did more silly things. It was lovely and very relaxed walk, with the wind, the sun, bluebells, beautiful Coastal Path and rocks on East Sands. And the posing - it turned out just fine.

Photo a day - June

Published on 12th of July 2023 Summer is in full swing now, with beach days and long evenings on the terrace, hiding inside from the heat, getting ready for some travel and holidays, and just having quiet lazy days at home with air conditioner.  This June was a pleasant surprise, for it spared us the heat. So we spent a lot of evenings on the terrace, playing, reading and watering the plants. Mara has restarted her terrace baths, a favourite summer time activity from last year. We found a large copper basin for her, and got an inflatable pool. She prefers the copper basin! Some days everyone dips their toes, or she bathes her ducks and dinosaurs. One day I found her, and the terrace, covered in geranium blooms, and Mara happily making some potions with them. Geraniums are still recovering, me too - she had a lot of fun though. We spent fair amount of time on the beach, playing and splashing in rock pools because the water still felt quite fresh. Rock pools are Mara's favourite, a...

Our trip to Favignana

Some impressions from our week on Favignana, a little island west of Sicily. Beach, lunch, nap and more beach, watching sunset by the sea. These are the days. In the mix are also books, some games, football, random ice-cream trips. We are going around the island checking out different swimming places and exploring best rocks for jumping. Our favourite spots so far are Cala Rotonda and Grotta Perciata. Afternoon on East Sands beach - family photoshoot

This family shoot took place on a sunny November afternoon on East Sands, the beach that's basically a backyard playground for this family as they live close by and visit it very often. We picked low tide time so that we have more space on the beach - it does get quite small at high tide. The idea was to get some natural photos of all of them together, and some photos of kids running and playing and being themselves. Boys climbed the pier, played with sticks and ran after the ball with their father. Despite being sunny it was quite fresh, so active games helped to stay warm. We discussed the weather and clothes during the preparation, and came to conclusion that it's better to have more layers and stay in sweaters rather than wearing bulky jackets. Bulky winter coats seldom look good in photos. And it worked, all the running certainly helped! Plus we had beautiful light and reflections on the beach.  Sunshine is great for photos of activities, and it's a huge part of beach ...
