Capo Gallo

These photos were taken while we visited Sicily for Christmas. Capo Gallo is beautiful, and I wanted to photograph there since seeing it the first time couple years ago.
We did not do much. Just slow walking to match the speed of this little monkey. She was keeping up. Then she fell asleep and was carried back :-)

She did try to steal the glasses.
But everybody's safe and ok and friends - glasses, grandmothers and granddaughters :-)

3 reasons to have your family photos in Villa Giulia park

Villa Giulia is a park in historic center of Palermo. It has its origins in 18th century and is remarkable for its perfect square shape with diagonal alleys dividing the park in different sections. Marble statues and fountains, a sundial, shady alleys and open spaces, and wide variety of trees and shrubbery make it a popular spot both with locals and tourists.  If you'd like your family photos to have lush green background with a touch of special Sicilian atmosphere, this park definitely should be considered. It ticks all the boxes - plenty of space, nice surroundings, easy access, lots of options for things to do during your photo shoot to get natural and emotional images (anyway we don't do posed photos on the benches or next to flowering shrubs!).  Here are my top 3 reasons why villa Giulia is a great location for family photo sessions. Gorky park

We spent several gorgeous days in it during our holidays this summer. We did car rides, all sorts of playgrounds, climbing frames, snacks, benches, playhouses, balloons, ice-creams for adults and coffees for kids :)... In this order and reverse, and then again. It was fun. We met with cousins, which increased the fun. Undeniably when you put two and two kids together, the amount of fun does not get simply added, it gets multiplied by four at least. The most anticipated and desired attraction was tree climbing. While the older trio was up and high in the tree tops, Matteo was making his own discoveries, including the sliding rocking horse. Still he's got all the gear to use. And this is the last piece of our summer, which was still stuck in the memory card of the camera. Time to greet the autumn.

Photo a day - July

Published on 12th of August 2022     Some recent photos from my 'a photo a day' project. I've been struggling a bit these past weeks to keep going, it's been too hot. Apart of sea breaks, we are mostly staying home and surviving thanks to air conditioning. Some days I look at the camera and think, it's all has been done already, I photographed this spot X times and kids or Mara doing this or something very similar another XX times. Then I see kids doing something, and inspiration hits again. When I look at the images together, its a reward in itself.  So what we've been up to - we got some new plants for the terrace, everything's been growing and blooming, our tomato plants are doing good too. And cacti, these also do very well. We get a nice breeze on the terrace in the evenings, so everyone is coming out when the day cools off a bit. Dinners are happening outside on the terrace too. Mara is very eager to help watering, but she often ends up either spilling...

Clothes, colours, choices / Family photographer in St Andrews

Clothes are.. .well, clothes. They are a daily necessity, they reflect our personality. And clothes are crucial for the photos to turn out great - imagine the two children above wearing say stripy leggins and pink Peppa Pig dress and orange skirt with pink polka dot shorts. Won't be exactly the same, right? I've put together some tips and ideas here to make it easier for you to decide on your wardrobe for the photo session. Choose colours that you like looking at, because they will remain on the photos for a long time. Pick up to 4 main colours which coordinate. Everybody should not wear same colours, but the colours should look good together. Colours should not be bright - it is distracting in the photos, we want the focus to be you and your beautiful smiles! Try to pick clothes which are smart and look classic, again because the photos will make a memory for a long time. Avoid too many patterns, big patterns, characters and printed logos on t-shi...

In search of snow / Family Photographer in St.Andrews

We did not have much snow this winter. We usually do not get much snow here at all, which may be surprising considering how far up north we are. But the truth is, winters in St Andrews are mild. We wanted some snow adventure and real winter experience, even as a short break. This desire took us to Glenshee. It was beginning of March, but we were lucky to find some snow patches, good enough for sledges. And small snowman. And snowballs. And of course snow lollipops. Result - some hours of driving and a bit getting lost, even with navigator - or despite :-) Couple of children who got car sick. Fair amount of fighting over how three children share two sledges. Couple hours of fun on the slopes. Five pairs of soaked shoes and socks. And this true sportswoman, who bravely pulled sledge up the slope for the next ride. All on her own. Did you wrap your gifts already? Mine is done.  Gift-wrapping is a hard job. As is decorating. This Xmas tree for instance is the naughtiest thing ever. Just took all the decorations off, and left. Merry Xmas!

Photo a day - February

Published on 25th of March 2024 This February did not feel like February at all. We were hoping to find some snow and were treated to spring-like temperatures and lots of sunny days instead, slow weekends spent outside collecting oranges or playing hide and seek in a giant blooming rosemary shrub, climbing trees, collecting rocks and even some splashing in the sea. Yes it was warm. We went to Scotland to take care of some personal matters, came back with a new cough, as if recent Covid and other cough and ear infections etc etc was not enough. I made a sweater for Mara and realized I've miscalculated the size, what I hoped would last also for autumn is just right for now. She is growing so fast, which makes me both sad and proud. Still loving her dinosaurs and playing hide and seek (the laundry basket is apparently an excellent hiding spot!), discovering 'big kids' Lego and liking it a bit too much, and trying to keep up with her big siblings.   Like what I do? Orange garden

 Orange garden and a baby who likes all things citrus. Peel included. Especially when you can pick your own fruit! There are other fun things to try. Like chomping on some sticks. Or own dirty fingers :-) What to say, it was fun. And she still does it, I mean tries to eat orange with the peel :-)
