A week of rain and fog



We had a week of rain and fog. So a walk through our urban forest, Lade Braes, was a must.






It was also the week of Bonfire night, which ended up being a week of Bonfire nights :-) As 5th of November fell on a Thursday, it was a good excuse to continue on Friday and Saturday too. So we heard lots of fireworks, but did ours just once. On the beach. Under the rain. And it was nice :-)

The week of fog and rain continued to a rainy week-end.

And slowly moved into another week of rain. Oh well :-)
We planned to take some pictures with the kids outside on Sunday, but the rain-free morning finished too soon and chased us inside. This is the only one we managed to get, and I love it.

Last days of autumn

I know, it is Xmas time, so autumn photos are somewhat out of date. But I have some nice ones to share, and I had creative break to experiment with my photo editing, and work on some other photography projects. So I am sharing them now :). I had some ideas, the individuals involved had others. Sometimes I get carried away with my own ideas, which they did not want to do. I still need to remind myself to let go and let it be. I get nice stuff this way too, not what I wanted, but full of real emotions and laughter. These were made on one of the last warm autumn days, when rolling on the grass was still OK and leaves were down, but nice and dry and crunchy. Not dripping wet as we were hit by a rain season. So rolling in the leaves and grass we did. We have started in the park, where all the shouting, grass rolling, leaves throwing and laughing took place. Beach fun / Family photographer in St-Andrews

Beach is fun all year around. And we had the cutest little explorer. We went to Maiden rock beach for this family session, just a short walk from East Sands. And we had lots of rocks to explore, shells to collect and sand to play, and driftwood tree to climb. This girl and her flyaway hair!  Here are some more of my favourites from this session. 3 reasons to have your family photos in Villa Giulia park

Villa Giulia is a park in historic center of Palermo. It has its origins in 18th century and is remarkable for its perfect square shape with diagonal alleys dividing the park in different sections. Marble statues and fountains, a sundial, shady alleys and open spaces, and wide variety of trees and shrubbery make it a popular spot both with locals and tourists.  If you'd like your family photos to have lush green background with a touch of special Sicilian atmosphere, this park definitely should be considered. It ticks all the boxes - plenty of space, nice surroundings, easy access, lots of options for things to do during your photo shoot to get natural and emotional images (anyway we don't do posed photos on the benches or next to flowering shrubs!).  Here are my top 3 reasons why villa Giulia is a great location for family photo sessions. Scottish garden, full bloom. Of children, flowers, and first steps

This is about our walks through Botanical Gardens of St Andrews. We've been here in April , to see the first spring flowers and the start of Gruffalo's trail. The trail is now completed, and the garden is in full bloom. We checked out the trail, heard some live music - there was a concert on the meadow, walked and ran around, and also took pictures, of flowers, and children. These walks were special, because all five of us were doing them. Sweet first steps, wobbly feet and spread arms, falling and standing up again. And we get to the flowers. And walk a bit more.

Xmas art

I was not planning to decorate this year for Xmas. We are going away, as we always do. But some people had other plans. So we did decorate, we also made some of the decorations ourselves. Some rocks from the beach, and paint - and voila, we have Xmas trees, snowflakes, Xmas comets, candy canes, gifts, and even Santa's been painted.  Some art pieces we could not keep. Like the one below. Pity.

Little things with lots of sun

Photography is about light, capturing it and "painting with it". Light and sun we had plenty of that day, lovely sunny morning. And our little girl was sleeping, covered and wrapped and bathed in light. All the lovely tiny things - fat fingers and wispy hair, golden lashes and pinkish skin in the bright sun. And then she woke, made a face, gave a kick, grabbed the bear. Bathed in golden sunlight.

Littlest people and lots of love/ newborn and baby photographer St Andrews

Some of my most favourite things to photograph. Tiny fingers and toes, big yawns, how they fit snugly in your arms. How they stretch and curl naturally when they sleep. Those kicking feet. How tiny they look on your bed, and how solid and warm they feel in your arms. Photo a day - June

Published on 12th of July 2023 Summer is in full swing now, with beach days and long evenings on the terrace, hiding inside from the heat, getting ready for some travel and holidays, and just having quiet lazy days at home with air conditioner.  This June was a pleasant surprise, for it spared us the heat. So we spent a lot of evenings on the terrace, playing, reading and watering the plants. Mara has restarted her terrace baths, a favourite summer time activity from last year. We found a large copper basin for her, and got an inflatable pool. She prefers the copper basin! Some days everyone dips their toes, or she bathes her ducks and dinosaurs. One day I found her, and the terrace, covered in geranium blooms, and Mara happily making some potions with them. Geraniums are still recovering, me too - she had a lot of fun though. We spent fair amount of time on the beach, playing and splashing in rock pools because the water still felt quite fresh. Rock pools are Mara's favourite, a...
