Spring


More sun, but still cold wind. First bulbs under bright sun rays, running noses, occasional flu and random snow drops, both flowery and icy kinds. The spring is moving on, there is no stopping it.

I am starting a personal spring photo adventure, 20 stories of spring. About adventures, mess, favourite and not only pastime of Pagano household, and of course about spring.

Buono regalo per un servizio fotografico

Autumn family photos in St Andrews - Lade Braes and Botanic Gardens

Majority of my photo-sessions lately are outside, and involve gorgeous details of autumn. My style of outdoor photography and use of natural details seems to work especially well here. It's my favourite season, after all :-). Katie wanted to have photoshoot for her family in a place that's special for them - Lade Braes. It's their favourite place to visit, play and explore - where kids can be silly and run around, laugh and play with sticks. Being autumn and in Scotland, we were only partly lucky - half way through it started to rain. So we continued next week-end in Botanic Gardens. This venue was our backup plan in case it rains again - we could escape to the glass houses! Fortunately, it was not needed. And fortunately we had this second venue - kids had even more opportunities to run around and be silly and play outside among gorgeous colours of autumn. Family photo session in villa Trabia

This session was a special treat for grandfather, 3 generations of the family were involved! I photographed this family before, so preparation and all the discussions before the shoot were easy and smooth. We picked villa Trabia as our venue, because of its easy to reach location, little distances to walk, diversity of backgrounds and last but not least - gorgeous marble benches. In fact, we started the shoot on this bench and we ended it there too! The session took place in April around Easter time, so there was plenty of green around us and it was not too hot, perfect weather to be outside. During preparation consultation it was decided that we do some photos with more quiet activity, as reading or talking, because it is difficult for the grandfather to walk big distances. And then with the younger part of the family we explore a bit around the park. We started at the beautiful marble bench and did some reading, chatting and hugging photos there. Forest

Back from holidays. There was a city, a forest, a river, and a sea. There were friends and family we did not see for a while. Sun, sand, waves, mosquitoes, barbeques, ice-creams. Shorts, sandals and dresses.  And some 16 gig of photos to sort through :-)

3 reasons to have your family photos in Villa Giulia park

Villa Giulia is a park in historic center of Palermo. It has its origins in 18th century and is remarkable for its perfect square shape with diagonal alleys dividing the park in different sections. Marble statues and fountains, a sundial, shady alleys and open spaces, and wide variety of trees and shrubbery make it a popular spot both with locals and tourists.  If you'd like your family photos to have lush green background with a touch of special Sicilian atmosphere, this park definitely should be considered. It ticks all the boxes - plenty of space, nice surroundings, easy access, lots of options for things to do during your photo shoot to get natural and emotional images (anyway we don't do posed photos on the benches or next to flowering shrubs!).  Here are my top 3 reasons why villa Giulia is a great location for family photo sessions. Botanical Garden

I was not planning to photograph today. I've counted yesterday, there are 16 sessions I have to edit. But it was a lovely sunny day, which was a major point because I've started recently experimenting with direction of light in my photos, and I need sun for it. So I was looking for a nice place where I could take some pictures and have sun behind the children. We ended up in Botanical Garden after school. The good point, I found this place. The bad point, we were too late, the sun was behind the trees already. Another bad point, these children run away and always in different directions, and never listen, and I had nothing to bribe them with (Matteo at least :-). Another bad point, the battery in the camera was dying. So all the major disaster factors present and accounted for :-) And then I come home and upload the photos and whoa. I am the only one who knows how dirty her knees are on the picture at the top :-)

Lights

Did you wrap your gifts already? Mine is done.  Gift-wrapping is a hard job. As is decorating. This Xmas tree for instance is the naughtiest thing ever. Just took all the decorations off, and left. Merry Xmas!
