A bit of sunshine

Let's blame Instagram for this one. I was invited to participate to a photo challenge dedicated to the theme of sun flare on one of the communities I follow there. Parallel to it I was trying to bribe, torture, blackmail etc everybody and anybody (read Maya and Masha :-) to do something with the light shining on their back, so that I could experiment with shooting counter light. So it kind of came together. It is an experiment. I am still not quite sure I like it. We'll see at the end of the year, if I include these pics in the photobook. Or what happens with the Instagram challenge :-)

Tentsmuir forest

We do not roam the woods oft enough. We like beaches, true - all year around. We live 10 min walk away from one. Still it's not an excuse enough to ignore the woods, something to work on. We finally made it to Tentsmuir on a crisp October day. We roamed the dunes, ended up on the beach (again :-), and made our way back to the trees. It was full of autumn smells, yellow leaves, mushrooms, golden trees and the quiet.   It was full of tree climbing, treasure hunting, stick collecting and stick walking, mushroom watching, path running, log walking and all the fun.  To be continued - for I made too many nice photos to squeeze in one post :-)

It's that time of the year - family photographer in St Andrews

It's that time of the year - bright spots of colour are appearing on the trees, morning school runs call for warmer scarves and jackets, and shops start taking out their Christmas goodies. Soon our walks will include making crowns of leaves and collecting the biggest and brightest ones for the flower press. This season is the sunset of the year, time to reflect on how it was and what's happened and what you want to take with you in the future. A worthy moment to document with beautiful photographs in the bright colourful framework of autumn. Photographs that celebrate you, your family, your love and connection. Photographs showing you relaxed, playing or walking outside, laughing together. That focus on you and your story, and make it shine because of their simplicity and intimacy. A piece of you with those you love, and something to remember about this moment in your life. These lovely photographs and albums deserve to be kept as biggest surprise till Christmas to be ...

The force is strong with this one

This project has been brewing since a while. We even wanted to write down the ideas, cause Matteo had more of them than fingers on one hand :-) Finally the combination of sunset, being at the right location at the right time, plus the mood was all in place. So yeah, the force is strong with this one. We were rewarded with golden light and pretty sky. The playground nearby destroyed our plans for more silhouette photos. So more might come, if Matteo wants to implement his ideas. For now, this is what we have, plus lots of pretty sky, and sea, and golden cowlick :-)

Feel the moments / Family photographer in St Andrews

How often do we stop and really feel the moment? How often is it even possible, with the busy life around us, phones beeping with notifications, children asking for this and that, dinner that needs to be cooked, email that needs to be answered, laundry that needs to be folded... Yet, there are moments and feelings that matter so much, that they shape and mould us, who we are and what we are. First smiles of your baby. Getting settled in a new home, and making it a home, not just a house with walls and furniture and random accessories. Wiggly little bodies of your children, how they both fit in your lap. Sweet clumsy hugs and kisses. Tickles and giggles. It's short and fleeting. It's full of love.   Photographs are copyright of Julia Pagano Photography. All the sweet things...

that happen in the kitchen. Cookies, cakes, fingers in the batter and chocolate. Everything gets tasted, and eventually eaten. Sometimes it includes the poor plate, or a bowl, or a random piece of table. Especially if you are the one stuck with baby biscuits and porridge, and no cake.   Ok, here comes the cake. It was mentioned here some days ago. And the cake maker. The cake maker was very good and patient with changing light and camera settings. The cake, chocolaty and fruity with nice sour note of raspberries, softness of ricotta and creamy chocolate ganache. And it is all gone :-) P.S. All the sweets mentioned in this post, have been successfully eaten. The bowl and the table are still there.
