A bit of sunshine

Let's blame Instagram for this one. I was invited to participate to a photo challenge dedicated to the theme of sun flare on one of the communities I follow there. Parallel to it I was trying to bribe, torture, blackmail etc everybody and anybody (read Maya and Masha :-) to do something with the light shining on their back, so that I could experiment with shooting counter light. So it kind of came together. It is an experiment. I am still not quite sure I like it. We'll see at the end of the year, if I include these pics in the photobook. Or what happens with the Instagram challenge :-)

3 reasons to have your family photos in Villa Giulia park

Villa Giulia is a park in historic center of Palermo. It has its origins in 18th century and is remarkable for its perfect square shape with diagonal alleys dividing the park in different sections. Marble statues and fountains, a sundial, shady alleys and open spaces, and wide variety of trees and shrubbery make it a popular spot both with locals and tourists.  If you'd like your family photos to have lush green background with a touch of special Sicilian atmosphere, this park definitely should be considered. Autumn and Christmas mini sessions - outdoor family photos in St Andrews

Seasons greetings! Too early? Sorry :-) But, considering that mince pies are in the stores since the end of September, it does not seem so early anymore. Tentsmuir forest, continued

This is second part of our adventures in Tentsmuir fores t. I do not have much to say, I loved it and pictures tell it all much better than words :-) I thought that I've included about half of the photos in the first post. How wrong I was! This one is interesting, because it shows the face Masha makes, when she does not want to be photographed. This time I did it though. With Grandpa. This boy, making faces and running away. Then coming back :-) This girl, with messy bun. She is a modern version of Little Red Riding Hood, in red converse instead of the hat. It was good. We should come back.

Family photoshoot | Fife Coastal path, St Andrews

Here's a beautiful throwback to last summer, when we went for a walk on Coastal with adorable baby Sam. Summer sun makes beautiful days, but is often too strong for nice photos - we waited for a cloudy day and planned for an early afternoon so that there's no conflict with meals or nap time. I try to be as flexible as possible with babies and do the photo session around their eating and sleeping routine. Long summer days help a lot here. Family photos on St Andrews|Fife Coastal path It's a great short walk that provides a lot of diverse backgrounds for photos - the path itself with greenery around, nice small beaches which are usually empty. This was the first professional photoshoot for Sam, and he did so well! His outfit was perfect - granddad shirt with seagulls pattern was especially fitting for the beach. Feel the moments / Family photographer in St Andrews

How often do we stop and really feel the moment? How often is it even possible, with the busy life around us, phones beeping with notifications, children asking for this and that, dinner that needs to be cooked, email that needs to be answered, laundry that needs to be folded... Yet, there are moments and feelings that matter so much, that they shape and mould us, who we are and what we are. First smiles of your baby. Getting settled in a new home, and making it a home, not just a house with walls and furniture and random accessories. Wiggly little bodies of your children, how they both fit in your lap. Family portraits on West Sands, St Andrews

Always windy and always beautiful West Sands. Especially with moody dramatic sky as we had on this summer evening when we met for family photos with Carolanne and her kids. I suggest evening time for photo-sessions so that we have the best light - strong midday sunshine is not good for portraits. As always on nice days, there were some people around - walking dogs and jumping in the water and playing. West Sands is huge, so we easily have found a spot for ourselves. The family is moving away from St Andrews, so they wanted some nice professional photos to remember their time here, and West Sands is one of their favourite places. It was beautiful warm summer day - perfect combination. Outdoor family photo session is never about posing - it's about doing things you like in your favourite place. Splash

It was the first official summer splash, starting with the innocent "I just want to try the water" and ending with full-body jump-dive. For some of us more used to warmer climates and seas, it was quite questionable pleasure. Still not to be denied. Rolling in the sand to warm up resulted in kilograms of sand stuck in all the clothes. The game was called cotoletta, for similarity of prepping method of the dish. Kids liked it. The sand we brought home.
