By the sea - from our beach holidays

We spent some days doing pretty much nothing but sea - slow days with siesta and swimming till sunset, chasing waves and jumping with the waves, swimming to the rocks for more jumping. I gave up on trying to get sand out of their heads, some days went without it being touched by a brush. Beach hair is my favourite style anyway, so there's this.

I also tried something new - taking photos during so-called blue hour, when the sun has already set. It's dark, but it makes everything look so dreamy! Here are some of these:

I was mostly taking photos in the evening and during sunset - the light is so much better for photos at this time. Bright morning sun can be tricky, with strong shadows everywhere, especially in the face.

Favourite things to do on the beach this year. Matteo - jumping in the waves, the bigger the better. He was always looking for stormy days with big waves, and could never had enough of them. Masha - swimming to 'jumping rock' and then reading on the beach. Maya - just staying in the water I'd say. She became more confident swimming, and mastered diving with mask. Mara - wandering on the beach and stealing toys from other kids, yes. She also managed to fall asleep once in her floaty, when we made a longer swim to visit her siblings on their 'jumping rock'. The waves sang her a very good lullaby.
