Christmas Family Photo Hunt

Immagine
Christmas family photo hunt! I've prepared a little game that you can play with your kids and the whole family over Christmas break, and share results with friends and family who you cannot see in person. You can take photos together, your kids can take some of the photos too. No camera or special equipment needed - you can do it all with your phone camera. The list of ideas included in the photo hunt is also open to your interpretation - for instance cookies you can make or eat, can be just cookies or your child dipping them in milk! Have fun and let me know how it goes! Merry Christmas!

Our little secret

Afternoon on East Sands beach - family photoshoot

Immagine
This family shoot took place on a sunny November afternoon on East Sands, the beach that's basically a backyard playground for this family as they live close by and visit it very often. We picked low tide time so that we have more space on the beach - it does get quite small at high tide. The idea was to get some natural photos of all of them together, and some photos of kids running and playing and being themselves. Boys climbed the pier, played with sticks and ran after the ball with their father. Despite being sunny it was quite fresh, so active games helped to stay warm. We discussed the weather and clothes during the preparation, and came to conclusion that it's better to have more layers and stay in sweaters rather than wearing bulky jackets. Bulky winter coats seldom look good in photos. And it worked, all the running certainly helped! Plus we had beautiful light and reflections on the beach.  Sunshine is great for photos of activities, and it's a huge part of beach

Autumn and Christmas mini sessions - outdoor family photos in St Andrews

Immagine
Seasons greetings! Too early? Sorry :-) But, considering that mince pies are in the stores since the end of September, it does not seem so early anymore. Everything is twisted out of its normal flow this year. Some things remain the same - the beauty of autumn among them, and I am very glad for I love autumn. Traditionally, Autumn and Christmas mini sessions. I have a few remaining dates for the year and I'd love for us to get together and capture the beauty of your family. Not the buttoned-up and perfectly posed version with forced smiles. But the real, playful and beautifully messy picture of your family. It's fun for the kids, and adults too. The photo sessions are outside, you can choose between East Sands, West Sands, or Botanic Gardens and Lade Braes for beautiful fall colours. Autumn in St Andrews - family photos

Immagine
Autumn is solidly settling in, with its gorgeous colours, cosy blankets and sweaters, rains, and this special something in the air. At home, we watch more movies, bake more pies, walk on the leaves and listen to their crunchy-crunch under our boots, and I want to soak in all these colours around us - I love autumn! It can be risky to have a photo session this time of the year, the weather becomes so unpredictable. But it's well worth the risk, because the light in autumn is often golden and magical, and you have all these gorgeous colours around you. I can be more flexible with my schedule so we can work around the sunshine. Favourite spots around St Andrews for autumn family photos. Of course Lade Braes and Botanic Gardens - if you want all these gorgeous colours and nature details! Outdoor walks in autumn are so much fin, kids up to their knees in the leaves, or hunting for autumn treasures together, making piles of leaves for jumping, weaving crowns, hide and seek - you name it

Family photos in Tentsmuir forest

Beautiful summer evening in Tentsmuir forest. This family wanted their photos in a green space, not on the beach, so Tentsmuir seemed to be the best option. It is one of my favourite spots around St Andrews and offers a wonderful mix of scenery - forest, dunes and the beach. Plus, plenty of space to run, things to do and explore for two active boys. And this is what we did on a warm summer evening a few weeks ago.  I love to capture families in their element, talking and having fun together, without posing or direction. This was easy to achieve here, as our photo session was about a walk in the forest, with a variety of activities captured - balancing on logs and climbing trees, stick and pinecones fight, piggyback rides, races and who has the biggest stick competitions. Of course, some cuddles, tickles and stories were thrown in the mix, and flowers the youngest boy has found for his mom and put in her hair. The result was a collection of beautiful, natural, at times funny, emotional
